Eric Carle Poetry Collections

Eric%2BCarle.jpg

You may know him as the creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Eric Carle is an extremely prolific children's book illustrator and his designs never fail to impress. Recently I've been completely absorbed in these two poetry collections, Eric Carle's collaborations with librarian Laura Whipple. Whipple has curated a beautiful selection of poetry from all over the world describing animals (Animals Animals) and mythical creatures (Dragons Dragons and other creatures that never were). Carle brings these poems to life with his signature method of layering textured tissue paper to create the creatures described in the poetry. Children will enjoy admiring the pictures of animals and imaginary beasts, and adults can help cultivate a love of literature by reading these poems out loud.

One page of Animals Animals is dedicated to different types of birds. Each bird is beautifully illustrated next to its poem. Great way to teach children about wildlife diversity.

The Seal Lullaby

I have always loved The Seal Lullaby by Rudyard Kipling, so I was delighted to find it featured in Animals Animals
